The women house is a project with a strong social burden, which ensure and provide the exposure of women to be a part of the process in decisions making, and where the deficiencies and demands of the site are researched. Resulting in connecting and overlapping these interdependent spaces towards the inside and outside, multiuse flexible spaces and a closer spatial connection towards the users and the environment inspired by the local traditions.
The building’s symbolic form is represented through the positioning of the infinity symbol plan of the building which allows the composition of the building to be indirectly mirrored towards one another. Creating a continuous form representing the past, the present and the future allowing equilibrium in enhancing the feeling of all as one equal. The union of this continuous relationship originates from the local traditions of the people that evolves around their establishment of culture and the environment that surrounds them. The continuous sloping roof structure which runs through the building is symmetric in plan yet asymmetrical in form. Allowing two internal court to form within the inter-weaving roof structure which defines the different programs taking place within the structure. The inverted sloping of the roof structure allows the rainwater to be collected through one side of the central court with natural filtration system for reuse in irrigation and daily activities. Meanwhile the other side of the building provides a shelter for gathering purposes. Thus, providing a rich internal experience between the inside and outside spaces, between the architecture and the local environment.
